When it comes to contest prep, I usually start 10-12 weeks ahead of the competition date. If I’m already leaner than my usual off-season conditioning, then I’ll only need 10 weeks to prepare instead of 12. Regardless, my goal is to be ready about two weeks out so I can ease into the show with no stress or trying last-minute manipulation to shed that last bit of fat and water.
Stress increases your cortisol production, which can throw your body off and make you retain more water. That’s obviously bad when you want to be in your best condition possible, especially after all that hard contest prep leading up to it. So, being able to show up relaxed is always best on show day.
With SAN supplements, there are a few products I can use to help with my last week of contest prep:
CortStat – Reduces cortisol levels
Melatonin – Natural sleep aid to help you get good rest for recovery
Shredded – Helps reduce water retention and get rid of the final layer of subcutaneous water; should be used with a lot of water
Along with my cardio regimen during prep, I’ll also be using Tight Xtreme Reloaded, which is a fat burning stimulant to help get rid of any stubborn fat. I’ll also use the topical LipoRedux to tighten my midsection and get more definition in my abs.
I always recommend that you get your blood work done before starting your contest prep. That way you can be certain that you’re 100% healthy and ready to go full force.
