So how does 6’4″, 350-pound Misha, build such legendary strength?
Misha trains to build strength and power over time. He generally likes to train in that 70%-80% of maximum zone with a lot of volume. Of course, what he calls light is still “Crazy Weight”. He toys with ‘light’ weight in his training like; back squats with 312 kg (687 pounds) for 9 reps and seated shoulder press with 180 kg (396 pounds) for 4 reps, with absolutely no bounce! Misha calls that, light training!

“To build real strength and power, you have to train volume with more reps, that’s it. Don’t be afraid of your upcoming meets. Lower your weights nonetheless. Just forget your ego and work like a robot with volume.
Soon enough, your body will tell you when you’re ready for a PR. You will walk across the gym and see a 320 kg (706 pounds) barbell on the floor, and your previous PR was 300 kg (661 pounds), and you will know, intuitively, that you can lift it. Don’t hesitate to just do routine work, volume work, with 70 or 80 % of your max and plenty of sets and reps. That doesn’t mean that you should do 15 reps and more with tiny weights.
Let’s take a squat workout for example, 5 sets of 5 reps. My best squat is 360 kg (793 pounds), so I workout with 270-290 kg (595-639 pounds) and squat 5 × 5 for every workout. I use the same system for the deadlift. My best deadlift is 417 kg (919 pounds), so I train with 320-330 kg (705-707 pounds), no more often than once a month. However, I usually train with 300 kg (661 pounds) for 5 sets of 5 reps each. This is the type of program that builds real strength and power over time. It’s very demanding, burns a lot of calories and taxes recovery to the max.”
