What a blessed weekend I had at the 2018 Olympia. I can’t believe it was only a year ago when I didn’t even think I’d be promoting the Oksana Grishina Pole Fitness Classic at the Olympia. But after putting in a lot of hard work and love, along with a good amount of patience, I’ve proven to myself and everyone around me that you can always reach your goals, even when you dream big.
The 2018 Olympia was such a great show, and I want to thank everyone who worked on this show with me. It would be impossible without every single one of you. Our friend and emcee, Eric, did an amazing job, and major thanks go to the entire backstage team. Thank you to Justin, my partner for the show, and to Chobi and Kash from Xpole for the excellent job they did setting up the whole on-stage truss in such a short time. Every job meant so much to the entire production, so thanks also go out to the pole cleaners, our judges, the great a video crew. Of course, I’m most grateful to all the friends and fans who came out to support the event. Without you, this would never happen.
Congratulations and thanks go out to all the wonderful competitors for all the hard work and the great jobs you all did on stage, and huge congratulations go out to the very first OG Pole Fitness champion at the Olympia, Tara Meyer. Great job!
Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our sponsors for their support. It goes without saying, yet I could never skip thanking him, Olympia promoter Robin Chang gave us this incredible opportunity to introduce pole fitness to the bodybuilding world, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.
While our pole fitness competitors saw the best bodies in the world backstage, which definitely showed them the value of working out with weights, the bodybuilding world also got to see what the human body is capable of on the pole. The competitors make it look easy, but pole fitness is a difficult sport and requires a lot of focus, concentration, and specific techniques. If you make even a small mistake on the pole, you can easily get injured from a big fall.
One question I heard a lot at this year’s Olympia was people asking how it feels to be at the Olympia without competing. To be honest, I was so busy with organizing the show and focusing on my guest performance at the Olympia that I simply never had the time to think about missing out on competing. I highly recommend that all the champs who retire do the same… Find your new passion and keep yourself busy with something you truly love.
As much as I loved the whole Olympia weekend, the only drawback is that I never had the chance to get any good sleep or work out the entire weekend. I always follow my diet, however, which keeps me organized and on track, and my SAN supplementation keeps me full of energy and motivation.
Always dream big,
