The recent weeks have gone by so fast. I can’t believe it’s time for the 2018 Fitness Olympia. Before I know it, I’ll be gracing the stage once again to compete in the biggest fitness event of the year.
I took time off from competing since after the Arnold earlier in the year so that I could focus on improving areas where I needed more muscle. Now that I’ve been leaning down for the past 10-12 weeks, I’m genuinely excited to see what the final results will look like on the day of the Olympia after all the effort I’ve put in.
The products I’ve been using from SAN Nutrition have been a staple during my entire season this year. I’ve been switching around between certain supplements as needed to help me achieve the greatest results for my body.
In the week leading up to the show, I’ll be incorporating Shredded and Tight Fem fat burner. Both of these utilize herbal products that help expel water from underneath the skin, which will be crucial for my final look—competitors need to look as lean and “dry” as possible.
This means getting rid of any water from under the skin and preferably moving that water into the muscle cells. In order to do that efficiently, sodium manipulation is one of the most important factors during peak week. Once water consumption decreases during the middle of peak week and in the days leading into the show, carb consumption is slowly increased in order to fill out the muscles.
Subsequently, there needs to be some water in your system for that transportation mechanism to occur. That means you either need to consume water or, ideally, transport the water from the subcutaneous layer (underneath the skin) into the muscles.
In addition, during the backstage pump-up prior to going on stage, I usually eat fast-acting carbohydrates and some sugar to help fill out the muscles for an increased pump and vascularity. That’s when I also include NA-R-ALA because of its glucose disposal properties. This will ensure that I utilize those carbs efficiently before hitting the stage. I’ll also be taking this with each carbohydrate-based meal for the week prior to the show.
The preparation phase for this year’s Olympia has been a long road. I couldn’t be any more thankful for my support team I’ve had this year. Thank you to everyone involved, and stay tuned for the results from the 2018 Fitness Olympia…
